If you are a wine connoisseur, you might say Botox and laser skin treatments are the perfect pairing. Laser skin resurfacing can do amazing things to make your face look smoother and more vibrant. And we all know that Botox can help you look younger longer. But, put them together and you can enjoy even greater results.
What Botox Can Do
Maybe you started out getting Botox injections to turn back the clock or head off obvious signs of aging. Botox is a proven winner when it comes to smoothing fine lines and wrinkles – especially forehead lines, crow’s feet, and smile lines. At Raval Facial Aesthetics, we sometimes use Dysport instead of Botox. Dysport is similar – also derived from botulinum toxin – but it is particularly effective for smoothing glabellar lines (the parallel lines between your eyebrows).
Getting Botox or Dysport injections regularly can not only diminish the appearance of existing wrinkles, it can prevent new ones from forming. But let’s face it. Your face can develop a whole list of imperfections other than wrinkles. And that’s where laser skin rejuvenation comes in. The right laser treatment can give your entire face a youthful lift, with smoother, clearer skin.
Laser Treatments Can Do More than Botox
Lasers work by directing intense light or heat at the targeted area. Typically, they work in two ways. They resurface the skin to make it tighter and smoother with more uniform tone and texture, plus they work below the surface to stimulate growth of healthy new skin cells. However, there are multiple types of devices, each one designed to work in a different way to address specific skin problems.
Even so, not all lasers are suitable for every skin type or color. So, here at Raval Facial Aesthetics, we use four different types of laser-based technology to repair and rejuvenate skin, depending on each patient’s personal needs:
- Intense pulsed light (IPL)
- Profractional laser
- Microlaser peel, which exfoliates without the harshness of chemical peels or dermabrasion
- Triple peel, our own proprietary treatment that combines IPL, Profractional, and Microlaser peel in a single three-step process for triple the results
- While most men and women choose these treatments to fight signs of aging, we can also use lasers to effectively improve a diverse range of other skin conditions:
- Acne pitting and scarring, as well as other small scars
- Discoloration -- brown age spots (melasma) or red spots or patches
- Uneven tone or texture
- Enlarged pores
- Dull, lifeless skin
Botox Can Help Prolong Laser Treatment Results
Laser treatments and peels can produce impressive results. Naturally, though, you want to retain your new-and-improved look as long as possible, and that’s where Botox comes in. While laser treatments help to minimize all sorts of imperfections and stimulate renewal of fresh, healthy skin, Botox helps prevent formation of new lines and wrinkles.
That’s great – really great. But you will continue to age, and both time and lifestyle affect your skin. To maintain your most youthful appearance, you need a regular skin care regimen, one that includes products formulated specifically for your skin type. Putting “just anything” on your face, or caring for your skin haphazardly, may diminish the results of your laser skin treatments. And it will certainly not give your face the healthy support it needs.
When you combine laser skin treatments and peels with Botox and ongoing preventive maintenance, you know you’re doing your best to keep your face looking its best.
